The DNC Email Leaks Take Us ROARING Into Democratic National Convention Week!

What a weekend for the Dems! After RNC week starting out with Melania Trump plagiarizing Michelle Obama’s speech and concluding with the Donald invoking the “Ted Cruz’ dad assassinated JFK” story, one had to believe it’d be an easy one-two punch for the Democrats — Let the Republicans collapse in on themselves during their convention, paint the DNC as the shining light the following week.

Wrong. On Friday, Wikileaks published 20,000 hacked DNC emails; it’s gone from bad to worse ever since.

The Emails

It’s long been thought that the DNC was in Hillary’s corner from the outset. By thought I mean known. But this leak attaches concrete, tangible evidence to those beliefs. Are the emails — on a specific basis — incriminating or cruel? No, not really. There’s even a couple “lol” emails in there directed at some Bernie news. But when you take the context and the fact that the DNC has staunchly claimed its own neutrality throughout, it’s a bad look.

OF COURSE they’ve been against Bernie — he’s essentially a lifelong Independent who’s caucused with the Dems and recently decided to run for president as a Dem. The DNC’s head honchos favored Slick Willy and Hillary over someone who just decided yesterday to throw a (D) in front of his name!? Shocking!

Example: Some email exchanges suggesting they targeted Bernie’s religion (Wash Post):

One email from DNC chief financial officer Brad Marshall read: “It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.”
Marshall added in a later email: “It’s these Jesus thing.”

Another example is Hillary campaign lawyer Marc Elias advising the DNC on how to handle Sanders’ allegations that Hillary was misusing a joint fundraising committee for her own good:

“My suggestion is that the DNC put out a statement saying that the accusations the Sanders campaign are not true,” Elias said May 3 in response to an email about the issue sent by communications director Luis Miranda to other DNC stuff that copied Elias and another lawyer at his firm, Perkins Coie.

Elias continued: “The fact that CNN notes that you aren’t getting between the two campaigns is the problem. Here, Sanders is attacking the DNC and its current practice, its past practice with the POTUS and with Sec Kerry. Just as the RNC pushes back directly on Trump over ‘rigged system’, the DNC should push back DIRECTLY at Sanders and say that what he is saying is false and harmful the the Democratic party.”

Another tidbit raising eyebrows? A CNN panelist pre-checked a pro-Hillary op-ed with the DNC and with the Hillary campaign before submitting for publishing. This fact was not disclosed to CNN or, therefore, to CNN’s readership:

On the morning of May 18, Cardona sent a draft of the op-ed to the DNC under this subject line: “Subject: URGENT – DRAFT CNN OPED ON NV.” Her request was in the top line: “I want to make sure it is not to heavy handed. Please let me know asap! Thanks!!”

Sure enough, DNC spokesman Luis Miranda replied, ” It’s fine with me, but the Clinton campaign would probably ask you not to place it.” To which Cardona shot back, ” Ok, will check with them.”

Other emails show DNC officials mocking a radio host as a “Bernie Bro,” calling a top Bernie aide a “damn liar” and “scummy,” saying Bernie has “no understanding” of the party… and more. You get the picture. The DNC was pro-Hillary and anti-Bernie. It shouldn’t have taken this leak for any of us to confidently reach that conclusion, but it is always fun and juicy to see sketchy ass liars get caught in their lies. Which brings me to…

Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Out. Done. This lady is a psycho and somehow’s been the head of the DNC for 5 years. She was forced to step down over the weekend. She was implicit in favoring Hillary and hating Bernie in several emails and — when you’re adamantly claiming neutrality on the whole thing — that’s a big no-no. Bernie has been calling for Debbie’s resignation for a while and finally got it.

That crazy old man still having an impact! I know he endorsed Hillary but did he actually concede/end his campaign? Hopefully not. Actually a savvy move to hang around, might land him in the Oval if we keep this pace.

Russia!

Maybe the best part is that everyone’s yelling at Russia. Both sides are “using” Russia to make a point: The Democrats are saying, “Hey Russia hacked and leaked our emails right before our convention because they want Donald Trump to win the election”; Republicans are saying, “Hey morons why was it so easy for Russia to hack your shit; if they hacked the DNC they obviously hacked Secretary Clinton so you’re all irresponsible and unfit and suck go Trump!”

So yeah, that’s Russia’s role. Always in the mix.

Donald Trump Takes Lead In National Poll

Annnd boom. There’s the cherry on top. A convention bump is nothing new, but a convention bump after that convention — and for somebody who pundits continue to say cannot win — that rockets the Donald into the lead is incredible. It flips the script on this whole thing. Hillary’s been trying to take the high road. She’s been trying to stay out of the muck and simply hold her lead by not stooping to Donald’s level. This changes that.

I need a Hillary leaked voicemail yelling at her campaign team. I need Hillary jumping into the trenches and trying to beat Donald at his own game. I need the true ruthlessness of the Clinton Machine to be on full public display. This weekend’s events were one small step towards that for the RNC, one giant leap for smutty news bloggers praying for a street fight.
